Olivia Rodrigo continues to make streaming history. Her debut album SOUR has just become the first album in Spotify history to have four songs surpass 2 billion streams each. The milestone was officially reached as “deja vu” crossed the 2 billion mark this week, joining “drivers license,” “good 4 u,” and “traitor” in Spotify’s elite streaming club.

This latest achievement adds to the remarkable staying power of SOUR, which was first released in May 2021. Nearly four years later, the album is still a fixture on streaming charts. In fact, the album is now home to eight songs with more than 700 million streams, breaking a previous record set by Ed Sheeran’s Divide. Previously, “jealousy, jealousy” hit 1 billion streams—making SOUR the first album ever with seven tracks over 1 billion. In addition, Sour is the only female album with over 15 billion streams.
Olivia’s rise began with “drivers license”, which became a global hit within days of its release. Since then, SOUR has remained one of the most successful debuts of the streaming era. It earned her three Grammy Awards and established her as a defining voice of Gen Z pop.
This new record follows closely on the heels of her successful second album GUTS, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and produced hits like “vampire” and “bad idea right?”. With SOUR nearing 14 billion total streams, Olivia Rodrigo continues to solidify her place in music history—proving that lightning can strike more than once.
