Sabrina Carpenter transformed the desert into “Sabrinawood” on April 10, delivering her first-ever headlining set at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Taking the Coachella Stage at 9:05 p.m. PDT, she ran through a tightly choreographed 90-minute performance that doubled as a cinematic spectacle.
Ambition had been the headline in the lead-up, with Carpenter describing the show as “the most ambitious” of her career. Execution matched the promise. Framed as a stylized Hollywood fantasy, “Sabrinawood” turned the main stage into a playful, hyper-real version of Los Angeles, blending theatrical set design with narrative-driven transitions between songs.
Concept drove every detail. Instead of traditional guest performers, the show leaned into actor cameos, reinforcing the “live movie” structure. Sam Elliott, Susan Sarandon, and Will Ferrell appeared in pre-recorded and live segments that added humor and cinematic continuity. Crowd shots revealed a packed VIP section, with Rosé praising the set on social media, while names like Kylie Jenner and Chappell Roan were also spotted in attendance.
Music remained at the center. Carpenter opened with “House Tour,” fresh off its newly released video featuring Madeline Cline and Margaret Qualley, immediately setting a playful tone. Momentum carried through standout moments like “Manchild,” a staged “Please Please Please” performed inside a mock studio set, and fan-favorite hits “Juno” and “Espresso.” Material from Short n’ Sweet and Man’s Best Friend dominated the setlist, reflecting her current commercial peak.
Visual storytelling elevated the performance beyond a standard festival headline slot. Costume changes, moving set pieces, and tightly synced choreography created a continuous narrative arc, culminating in a dramatic finale. Closing track “Tears” saw Carpenter exit the stage in a car, completing the “film” concept and signaling the end of the Sabrinawood storyline.
Two years after teasing a future headline slot during her 2024 Coachella appearance, Carpenter now stands at the center of the festival’s pop-driven evolution.
