Ten years after “Treat You Better” helped launch Shawn Mendes into global pop stardom, the Canadian singer is celebrating the milestone with a special release that has already sent fans into a frenzy. On June 3, Mendes unveiled a limited-edition 7-inch vinyl of the hit single through Blood Records.
The anniversary package includes the original 2016 recording of “Treat You Better” on Side A and a previously unreleased “Treat You Better (Live From New York)” performance on Side B. Alongside the vinyl release, both versions of the song have arrived on streaming platforms, while an official live performance video has been uploaded to Mendes’ YouTube channel.
The release carries particular significance for Mendes, whose breakthrough era remains one of the defining moments of his career. Marking the occasion, the Grammy-nominated singer shared a heartfelt message with fans on social media, writing: “10 years of Treat you better. I love you guys. Thank you. Treat You Better (Live From New York) song and video are out now!”
Originally released on June 3, 2016, “Treat You Better” served as the lead single from Illuminate, Mendes’ second studio album. Co-written by Mendes alongside Teddy Geiger and Scott Harris, the track quickly became one of the singer’s signature hits.
Commercially, the song proved to be a turning point. “Treat You Better” peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Mendes’ second top-10 hit in the United States. Beyond North America, the single reached the top 10 in Canada, the United Kingdom, and numerous international markets.
