Taylor Swift just can’t help but constantly break records. For the past couple of years, the pop superstar has been committed to her history-making Eras Tour, yet she still found time to work on new material. During the 2024 Grammy Awards, she surprised fans by announcing her 11th album, The Tortured Poets Department, which was released on April 19. With tracks like “Fortnight,” “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” and “So Long, London,” the album became an instant hit, breaking streaming and chart records. Nine months later, The Tortured Poets Department has already surpassed six billion streams, cementing its place as the most-streamed album of 2024. Additionally, it becomes Taylor’s sixth album to reach six billion streams on Spotify, making her the first artist in history with six albums achieving this milestone.

Since its release, The Tortured Poets Department has shattered several records. On Spotify, the album earned the biggest single-day and single-week streaming numbers in history, debuting with over 300 million streams in its first 24 hours and over 1 billion streams in its first week. On the Billboard Hot 100, all 14 tracks from the album occupied the top 14 spots, making Taylor the first artist in history to dominate that entire region. Looking ahead, we’re just a few hours away from the 2025 Grammy nominations, and Taylor is expected to make further history.
