Taylor Swift has set another historic benchmark on Spotify. Her single “The Fate of Ophelia” has officially surpassed one billion streams on the platform. The milestone marks Swift’s 23rd song to cross the billion-stream threshold on Spotify, the most by any female artist in the platform’s history. With the achievement, she breaks her tie with Ariana Grande and stands alone at the top of that ranking.
Even more striking is the speed of the ascent. “The Fate of Ophelia” reached one billion streams in just 128 days, making it Swift’s fastest song to hit the mark and placing it among the ten quickest tracks overall to do so. Among female-led songs, it ranks as the sixth fastest in Spotify history.
Released on October 3, 2025, “The Fate of Ophelia” serves as the lead single from Swift’s twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. Written and produced by Swift alongside longtime collaborators Max Martin and Shellback, the track blends elements of dance-pop, synth-pop, and funk.
Commercially, the impact of “The Fate of Ophelia” has been immediate and sustained. Upon release, it shattered Spotify records for the most streams in a single day and a single week. It later topped the Billboard Global 200 and reached No. 1 in multiple countries. In the United States, the single spent ten weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the longest-running chart-topper of Swift’s career and surpassing the eight-week reign of “Anti-Hero.”
The song had an equally powerful run on Spotify. On the Global Chart, it spent 78 days at the summit, becoming the 15th longest-running No. 1 hit in the chart’s history.
