What Time Does SNL Start Tonight?
Saturday Night Live begins at 11:30 p.m. ET / 8:30 p.m. PT on NBC and Peacock. The episode is scheduled to air live tonight, with the full episode available to stream on Peacock afterward.
For viewers outside the United States, the broadcast time will depend on location and local availability. Peacock subscribers can watch the episode after the live broadcast, while NBC remains the traditional television option for U.S. viewers.
This is the second episode of Season 52, following last week’s season premiere. The current cast continues to feature new players Saidah Belo-Osagie and Grace Reiter, while Ashley Padilla and Jane Wickline have moved into the repertory cast.
Who Is Hosting SNL Tonight?
Dakota Johnson is hosting tonight’s episode for the third time. She first hosted on February 28, 2015, with Alabama Shakes as the musical guest, before returning in January 2024 alongside musical guest Justin Timberlake.
Her latest appearance also comes immediately after the theatrical release of Verity, which opened on October 2. Johnson stars as ghostwriter Lowen Ashleigh opposite Anne Hathaway and Josh Hartnett in the Colleen Hoover adaptation directed by Michael Showalter.
There is another reason the date is significant: Johnson turns 37 at midnight ET, meaning her birthday arrives during the live broadcast.
Promotional material has already teased the unusual pairing with Turnstile. In one promo with Ben Marshall, Johnson jokes about forming a “wall of death,” while Marshall claims his doctor has forbidden him from moshing. Another bit references Fear’s infamous 1981 SNL appearance, when the hardcore punk band famously caused chaos on the set.
Johnson even asks Turnstile whether they intend to repeat Fear’s antics. The band’s deliberately unconvincing response has only added to anticipation for the episode.
Turnstile Make SNL History
Turnstile are making their Saturday Night Live debut and becoming the first hardcore band to perform on the program since Fear appeared in 1981.
The Baltimore group formed in 2010 and features Brendan Yates, Franz Lyons, Pat McCrory, Daniel Fang and Meg Mills. Mills joined the band following founding guitarist Brady Ebert’s departure in 2022.
Their appearance comes after a major career breakthrough. Turnstile’s fourth album, NEVER ENOUGH, arrived June 6, 2025, through Roadrunner Records and earned the band two wins at the 68th Grammys on February 1, 2026: Best Rock Album for NEVER ENOUGH and Best Metal Performance for “BIRDS.”
What Songs Will Turnstile Perform?
No official SNL setlist has been announced, so the exact songs will not be confirmed until the performance airs.
Still, “BIRDS” and “NEVER ENOUGH” are obvious possibilities given the album’s Grammy success and the band’s current touring cycle. Their SNL set is also likely to draw from Glow On, the 2021 album that helped push Turnstile beyond the traditional hardcore scene.
The timing could make the performance particularly relevant to the band’s current era. On August 28, they released NEVER ENOUGH: VERSIONS, a complete reimagining of the album featuring artists including Elton John, Hayley Williams, Dying Fetus, Blood Orange, Alex G, Faye Webster, Julien Baker, Slayyyter and others.
Why Turnstile Are Performing Now
Turnstile are currently in the middle of the Never Enough Tour Pt. 2, which began September 9 in Milwaukee. The trek features a rotating group of support acts, including Clipse, Thundercat, Hatebreed, Vince Staples, Pennywise and Yves Tumor.
Their schedule has even been adjusted around SNL. The band moved its Oklahoma City concert from October 3 to October 5 at The Criterion to accommodate the television appearance.
Just one day before SNL, Turnstile performed a rain-soaked set at Austin City Limits Music Festival, where they leaned heavily on NEVER ENOUGH and Glow On. The band then headed directly to New York for its Studio 8H debut.
