KATSEYE’s Lara Raj has revealed two of the biggest musical inspirations behind “Unloveu,” the Target-exclusive bonus track from the group’s new EP WILD. Speaking during KATSEYE’s first in-depth podcast interview on Nicky at Night, Lara shared that she looked to both Camila Cabello and Fifth Harmony while writing and co-producing the fan-favorite song.
Discussing the creative process, Lara pointed to one of Cabello’s biggest solo hits as a key reference.
“I also referenced ‘Never Be the Same’ by Camila [Cabello]. I think it’s just like the f*cking best song…” She also credited Cabello’s former group for helping shape the track’s direction. “I referenced ‘Miss Movin’ On’ by Fifth Harmony.”
The comments offer fans a clearer look into the musical influences behind “Unloveu,” one of the most personal songs on WILD. Lara is credited as both a co-writer and co-producer on the Target-exclusive track.
The revelation also adds another chapter to the group’s connection with Camila Cabello. Nearly a year ago, KATSEYE spoke about meeting the singer during an interview with Complex, describing her as “our big sister.” At the time, they recalled the advice Cabello gave them after experiencing the pressures of global success as a member of Fifth Harmony. “Communication is everything,” Cabello told the group, encouraging them to stay open and honest with one another as their careers continued to accelerate.
That guidance appears even more meaningful today. Available now on Spotify, the Nicky at Night interview marks KATSEYE’s first podcast appearance centered entirely around WILD, giving fans an inside look at the EP’s creation, the group’s artistic growth, and the friendships that continue to define the project. The episode also features Sophia, despite her recently announced hiatus.
Released on August 14 through HYBE x Geffen Records, WILD has quickly become KATSEYE’s biggest commercial success to date. The five-track EP includes “Pinky Up,” “Animal,” “Hootie Frutti,” “Bel Air,” and “That Way,” with “Unloveu” available exclusively on the Target edition.
The project has already delivered career-best numbers across streaming platforms. WILD opened with approximately 10.75 million first-day Global Spotify streams, eclipsing the 8.29 million debut achieved by 2025’s Beautiful Chaos. Commercial momentum has extended beyond streaming. According to early projections from Hits Daily Double, WILD is expected to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
