Tate McRae closed the 2026 edition of Lollapalooza Chicago in commanding fashion on Sunday, August 2, delivering a dance-heavy headlining performance that capped off four days of music at Grant Park. Packed with chart hits, elaborate choreography and striking new visuals, the set also intensified speculation that a brand-new era is already underway.
Taking the T-Mobile Stage around 8:45 p.m. CT, Tate McRae wasted no time launching into “Just Keep Watching,” her Grammy-nominated contribution to the F1 soundtrack, before seamlessly moving through fan favorites spanning every stage of her career. Throughout the night, she balanced polished vocals with athletic choreography, backed by a full troupe of dancers that transformed the festival’s biggest stage into a stadium-sized production.
The setlist showcased the continued dominance of So Close to What, the album that debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 following its release in 2025. Singles including “2 Hands,” “Revolving Door,” “It’s OK I’m OK,” “Sports Car” and “exes” ignited excitement in the crowd.
One of the night’s biggest talking points came from the production itself. During performances of “Purple Lace Bra” and “exes,” giant screens displayed flowing gold swirls, ethereal body-inspired imagery and artistic projections that sharply contrasted with the darker visual identity of the Miss Possessive era. Similar graphics debuted just one night earlier during her Osheaga headline performance in Montreal, where fans first began connecting the refreshed aesthetic to a possible new album campaign.
Tate McRae also debuted a shimmering gold bodysuit midway through the performance. Combined with the updated visuals and recent cryptic social media posts, the wardrobe change further fueled fan theories that the singer is preparing her next creative chapter following the conclusion of the Miss Possessive World Tour in late 2025.
