Taylor Swift is showing love to Phoebe Bridgers’ long-awaited return. Just days after the release of her new album Lost Weekend, Swift took to Instagram Stories to celebrate both the album and Bridgers’ birthday, calling the deeply personal project “an absolute triumph.”
“It’s her birthday but she gave us a gift,” Taylor Swift wrote. “Haven’t been able to stop listening. This album is an absolute triumph in every way. To write about grief with such vulnerability and detail, and to trust the listener with this much honesty. Happy Bday I love you!!”

The heartfelt endorsement arrives as Lost Weekend continues to generate widespread critical acclaim following its August 14 release through Dead Oceans. The project marks Phoebe Bridgers’ first solo studio album since Punisher in 2020, ending a six-year wait that included the formation of Saddest Factory Records, the massive success of boygenius, and an extended hiatus that kept the singer largely out of the public eye throughout 2025.
Across its tracklist, Lost Weekend explores grief, love, isolation and the emotional weight of fame, with much of the album centered on the death of Bridgers’ father in 2023. The record also expands her signature indie-folk sound with elements of electronica and ambient music, while longtime collaborators Tony Berg and Ethan Gruska return as producers. Additional contributions come from Jack Antonoff, Alex G, Bo Burnham, Cameron Winter, and fellow boygenius members Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker.
Taylor Swift’s praise carries extra significance given the pair’s longstanding friendship and creative history. Bridgers opened select dates of The Eras Tour in 2023 and joined Swift onstage to perform “Nothing New (Taylor’s Version),” their collaboration from Red (Taylor’s Version). Since then, the two artists have continued publicly supporting each other’s work, making Swift’s latest endorsement another notable moment in their ongoing artistic relationship.
