Gracie Abrams is reflecting on the artists who helped shape her career, and one name stood out above the rest. During a new appearance on Popcast, the 26-year-olf singer-songwriter praised Phoebe Bridgers, calling her “the writer of our generation” while discussing the women who have influenced her journey in music.
The conversation arrived just hours before the release of Abrams’ new song “Look at My Life,” the latest preview of her upcoming third studio album, Daughter from Hell.
Speaking about the support she has received throughout her career, Abrams highlighted several major artists, including Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Lorde, and Bridgers. She described each of them as mentors who helped guide her at different stages of her development as an artist.
“But I have been granted by artists who have had significantly larger platforms than me, sharing their stage,” Abrams said. “Taylor and Olivia both in such meaningful ways. Lorde, for example, being so supportive early on. Phoebe being such a… I mean she is just like the writer of our generation in my mind.”
The comment is particularly notable given Bridgers’ influence on a new wave of singer-songwriters throughout the 2020s. Since the release of Punisher in 2020, Bridgers has become one of the most celebrated lyricists in the music industry, earning multiple Grammy nominations.
Abrams explained that growing up with Bridgers’ music shaped her understanding of songwriting and artistic expression. She also emphasized how much she has learned from all four artists.
“Having grown up with her music in my life and learning from each of these women as really mentors in many ways, being associated with them in any capacity and with their careers is just a compliment,” Abrams said.
The singer went on to discuss her long-term ambitions, revealing that longevity remains one of her biggest goals.
“My hope is to be around for decades,” she said. “I want longevity. Every chapter thus far, I have learned so much more than I ever thought I’d have the opportunity to.”
The interview arrives during a busy period for Abrams. Tonight, she will release “Look at My Life,” a new song teased through social media with a short video showing her running through a large field. The track follows lead single “Hit the Wall,” which launched the Daughter from Hell era in May.
Anticipation for the album has continued to build after Abrams gradually revealed its 16-song tracklist through a series of clues, merchandise drops, and online updates. The project serves as the follow-up to The Secret of Us, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in 2024 and delivered some of the biggest songs of her career.
Beyond the album rollout, Abrams is also preparing for her massive Look at My Life Tour, a 64-date arena run across North America, the United Kingdom, and Europe beginning in December 2026.
