EVAN, formerly known as Heeseung, has entered a new chapter in his musical career after establishing himself as a vocalist, songwriter, and producer in K-pop. Born Lee Hee-seung on October 15, 2001, the South Korean singer first gained international recognition as a member of ENHYPEN before pursuing a solo career under the name EVAN in 2026.

Born in Uiwang, Gyeonggi Province, and raised in Namyangju, EVAN developed an interest in music and the arts from an early age. He joined Big Hit Entertainment as a trainee in 2017 after being scouted through an entrance exam at Hanlim Arts School. His journey eventually led him to I-LAND, the survival competition that determined the lineup of ENHYPEN. Finishing in fifth place, he earned a spot in the group and made his official debut on November 30, 2020, with the extended play Border: Day One.

During his time with ENHYPEN, EVAN showcased his vocal abilities through solo covers, television appearances, and songwriting contributions. His 2022 rendition of Justin Bieber’s “Off My Face” received positive reviews from music publications, while his appearance on LeeMujin Service highlighted his versatility as a vocalist. He also participated in the soundtrack for the Korean drama Summer Strike with “Zero Moment,” alongside fellow ENHYPEN members Jay and Jake. In 2024, he further expanded his creative role by co-writing and producing “Highway 1009” for the group’s album Romance: Untold.

In March 2026, Belift Lab announced that EVAN would leave ENHYPEN to pursue a solo career while remaining with the label. The decision prompted an extraordinary response from fans, with a petition calling for his return reportedly surpassing one million signatures within days. In April, he officially adopted EVAN as his professional name, explaining that it reflected his most honest and natural self.

His solo debut arrived on June 22, 2026, with the digital single “Ride or Die,” accompanied by the B-side “Overflow.” The two tracks introduced different sides of his musical identity, pairing alternative rock influences with a more relaxed indie-pop sound. His debut EP, Death of Me, followed on September 7, exploring pop, R&B, alternative rock, UK garage, indie pop, and dream pop. The release reportedly sold more than 460,000 copies on its first day, marking a major milestone in his transition to solo artistry.

From his early days as a trainee to his new identity as EVAN, his career has already included significant achievements, creative experimentation, and a passionate international fanbase. But how closely have you followed his journey?
