Drake’s ICEMAN rollout has taken an unexpected turn in Toronto. What began as a viral street installation revealing the album’s release date turned into a public safety issue, as police were forced to intervene after fans attempted to physically break into the structure.
Authorities stepped in on April 20 after crowds gathered around the large ice block installed in downtown Toronto. According to on-site footage, several individuals began chipping away at the structure using tools, while others reportedly attempted to accelerate the melting process by lighting small fires nearby. Police halted the activity, temporarily restricting access to prevent injuries and damage to the installation.
During a livestream involving Twitch streamer Kishka, he confronted officers after being stopped from interfering with the structure. Clips from the broadcast quickly went viral.
The installation itself is part of a broader strategy tied to ICEMAN. Confirmed by Drake via Instagram Stories on April 20 with the message “Release Inside,” the block of ice conceals the album’s release date, turning the reveal into a real-time countdown. Fans have since gathered at the location in large numbers, treating the site as both spectacle and scavenger hunt.
Momentum around the project has been building steadily. On April 19, Drake was spotted filming a music video in Toronto, with his son Adonis appearing in scenes reportedly involving a police car. Days earlier, on April 16, a large explosion near Downsview Park—later confirmed as a controlled pyrotechnic effect for a film shoot—sparked speculation after Drake reposted footage with ice-themed emojis. A production listing titled “PROJECT BOT” added to the intrigue.
