Young Thug is bringing the Slime Language series back tonight. The rapper announced Slime Language 3 just hours before its release, confirming that the YSL Records compilation will arrive at midnight on August 28, 2026, although no tracklist had been publicly revealed at the time of publication.
The project serves as the long-awaited follow-up to 2021’s Slime Language 2 and introduces a new generation of artists connected to Young Thug’s Young Stoner Life label. While the previous installment was anchored by Thug and Gunna, the third chapter is expected to put newer YSL names including 1300SAINT, Tezzus, diamond* and iyrus at the center.
The idea for Slime Language 3 first surfaced in May, when 1300SAINT mentioned the project during a May 16 appearance on PlaqueBoyMax’s stream. He followed up with another tease on X/Twitter two days later, beginning a rollout that would remain relatively quiet before accelerating in August.
Young Thug offered perhaps the clearest indication of what fans should expect during a backstage interview in June. Asked about the album’s sound, he gave a concise answer: “It’s gonna sound like Barter 6, like that 2016 music.”
That reference points toward the raw, melodic trap sound associated with one of the defining periods of Thug’s career. Barter 6, released in 2015, established much of the vocal experimentation, unconventional flows and dark Southern production that would become central to his influence on modern hip-hop.
By August, the album had moved firmly into its final stages. Young Thug and producer Mike Dean revealed on August 19 that recording had been completed, with the project moving into mixing and mastering. Five days later, 1300SAINT claimed that the compilation would contain more than 30 tracks.
The rollout continued with an official trailer released by YSL Records on August 26. The trailer reportedly previewed the project’s extensive lineup of collaborations, while a subsequent social media update confirmed August 28 as the release date. Despite those previews, a full tracklist was not available at the time of publication.
Slime Language 3 follows a series that has historically functioned as a snapshot of the YSL roster. The original Slime Language arrived in 2018 and debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200, featuring artists such as Gunna and Lil Baby alongside Young Thug and outside collaborators. Slime Language 2 made an even bigger impact in 2021, opening at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 113,000 equivalent album units in its first week.
The new installment arrives during a particularly active period for Thug. Following his October 2024 release from jail after the conclusion of the YSL RICO case, he returned with UY Scuti in September 2025, which debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200. He is also preparing to launch The New Generation Tour on September 1, with newer YSL artists joining him alongside NAV.
