Fifteen years after its release, Born This Way is not simply surviving in the streaming era, it is thriving at a level few catalog albums of early 2010s ever reach. Released on May 23, 2011, Lady Gaga’s second studio album has become one of pop’s most remarkable long-tail success stories, with fresh Spotify data showing the record is still accelerating in 2026.
As of its 15th anniversary, Born This Way has surpassed 4.3 billion streams on Spotify worldwide, averaging more than 68 million monthly streams across the platform. Those numbers tell a story bigger than nostalgia. They reflect how the album has evolved from a defining pop release of the early 2010s into a multi-generational streaming powerhouse still discovering new listeners every day.
The most striking statistic may be 2025’s performance. Last year became the biggest streaming year in the album’s history, generating more than 907 million Spotify streams globally. On October 31, Born This Way reached an all-time daily peak of 5.3 million streams, driven largely by “Bloody Mary,” which transformed into an annual Halloween streaming event after its TikTok resurgence. Originally released as a non-single album cut in 2011, the track’s viral explosion in late 2022 rewrote its legacy entirely, eventually helping it become the project’s third most-streamed song with more than 801 million plays.
That resurgence has also reshaped the album’s internal hierarchy. “Judas” remains the biggest streaming giant from the record with 1.15 billion Spotify streams, while the official video version has separately amassed more than 1.56 billion streams. The title track follows with 821 million. “The Edge of Glory” sits at 404 million, while fan-favorite deep cuts continue posting astonishing numbers for non-singles. “Government Hooker” has crossed 214 million streams, “Heavy Metal Lover” stands at 146 million, and “Scheiße” has reached 127 million.
Listener behavior offers another compelling window into the record’s endurance. Over the past 12 months alone, Born This Way was discovered for the first time by 106.3 million Spotify listeners. Tracks from the album have appeared in more than 20 million user-generated playlists, while its songs have accumulated 1,106 chart entries across 97 Spotify regions since release.
The lyrical connection remains just as powerful. The album’s two most-shared lyric snippets on Spotify both come from the title track: “No matter gay, straight, or bi’, lesbian, transgender life” generated 7,500 shares, while “I’m on the right track, baby, I was born to survive” followed with 6,600.
Geographically, Born This Way’s streaming footprint reveals how global its impact has become. The United States leads with more than 1.05 billion streams, followed by Mexico at 354 million and Brazil at 353 million. The United Kingdom and Germany round out the top five. In 2026, Mexico City emerged as the album’s top streaming city with 6.37 million plays, ahead of São Paulo, New York City, Santiago, Sydney, Melbourne, and Istanbul.
When Born This Way debuted atop the Billboard 200 with 1.108 million first-week sales, it represented peak digital-download-era dominance. Its second life on streaming platforms tells an even more impressive story. Few albums manage to maintain cultural relevance after a decade; even fewer continue growing faster than ever.
