aespa have officially launched the Lemonade era with “WDA (Whole Different Animal),” their explosive new collaboration with K-pop icon GDragon. Released today, May 11, the single arrives as the first taste of the group’s upcoming second studio album Lemonade, due May 29 via SM Entertainment.

The release instantly became one of the most anticipated releases in K-pop this week. Fans had already been anticipating the pairing ever since aespa unveiled the album’s tracklist, confirming that G-Dragon would appear on the lead single. Now that “WDA” is finally out, the collaboration is living up to expectations, blending aespa’s futuristic production style with the BIGBANG leader’s unmistakable charisma and delivery.

For aespa, the single marks another major step in their rapid global expansion. Their first full-length album Armageddon became one of 2024’s defining K-pop releases after surpassing 1.02 million pre-orders and topping China’s QQ Music chart within hours of release. Momentum continued into 2025 with Rich Man, which debuted at No. 14 on the Billboard 200.

G-Dragon’s involvement adds another layer of significance. Although the rapper and producer has remained selective with music releases and features over the past several years, every appearance still generates massive attention across generations of K-pop listeners. “WDA” also represents one of his highest-profile collaborations with a fourth-generation girl group to date.

The full Lemonade album promises even more surprises. Alongside “WDA,” the project includes tracks like “Shakin’,” “Camouflage,” and “Bite,” while two mystery features remain hidden on “Switchblade” and “LEMONADE.” That secrecy has already fueled intense fan speculation online ahead of the album’s release later this month.

aespa are also preparing for their massive 2026–27 Complaexity world tour, which launches August 7 in Seoul before expanding across 25 cities throughout Asia, Europe, North America, and Latin America.

Fans can stream “WDA (Whole Different Animal)” now on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and other major streaming platforms.
