Girls’ Generation’s newest unit has officially arrived. HYOYEON, YURI and SOOYOUNG have joined forces as Girls’ Generation-HRS, releasing their debut digital single project Skibidi across major streaming platforms through SM Entertainment.

The two-track release pairs the playful, genre-blending title track “Skibidi” with the brighter B-side “Lowkey In Love,” giving fans their first official taste of the trio’s chemistry as a unit.

“Skibidi” moves between house and hip-hop, built around dynamic production and distinctive Arabic-inspired string samples. Lyrically, the song embraces individuality and the confidence to follow your own path, matching the lighthearted personality that helped HYOYEON, YURI and SOOYOUNG connect with fans long before their official debut.

On “Lowkey In Love,” the trio switches gears with a retro-inspired sound driven by upbeat brass, a groovy rhythm and an immediately catchy melody. Together, the two songs highlight different sides of Girls’ Generation-HRS while keeping the members’ personalities at the center of the project.

Fans got an early preview of the unit on August 22, when Girls’ Generation-HRS performed both songs at the 2026 CassCool Festival at Seoul Land in Gwacheon. The appearance gave audiences their first opportunity to see the trio perform together before Skibidi officially arrived.

The unit itself grew from HYOYEON’s YouTube series “Fake Kim Hyoyeon,” featured on her Hyo’s Level Up channel. In the series, HYOYEON, YURI and SOOYOUNG humorously competed for roles such as main vocalist and center, with their natural chemistry becoming a major part of the appeal. The response eventually helped turn the on-screen friendship into a real musical project.

Girls’ Generation-HRS now becomes the latest chapter in Girls’ Generation’s extensive history of subunits. The group has previously explored different combinations of members through projects including Girls’ Generation-TTS and Girls’ Generation-Oh!GG, allowing individual members to experiment with sounds and concepts outside the group’s main releases.

Since debuting in 2007, Girls’ Generation has remained one of K-pop’s most influential girl groups, building a catalog that helped establish the blueprint for large-member acts in the genre. The group celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2022 with FOREVER 1, its seventh full-length album, while members have continued developing solo careers across music, television, film and other fields.
