Olivia Rodrigo has given one of the most viral moments of her Unraveled Tour a Halloween twist, transforming her signature rain-soaked performance of “The Cure” into a theatrical skeleton reveal. During her October 30 concert in Columbus, Ohio, a custom water-reactive pink dress dissolved under artificial rain, exposing a black skeleton-inspired outfit underneath.
The transformation unfolded at Value City Arena, where Olivia Rodrigo performed the second of two sold-out shows as part of her 86-date tour. As rain poured over the stage, the outer layer of her Hussein Chalayan minidress began breaking apart, clinging to her body before tearing into strips and gradually washing away. Beneath it was a black bodysuit featuring a white ribcage and spine graphic, finished with a red heart detail.

Rather than relying on a conventional quick-change effect, the reveal happened continuously throughout the song. Olivia Rodrigo interacted with the dissolving material while singing and moving across the rain-soaked stage, turning the costume itself into part of the performance. The skeleton design also gave the moment a fitting seasonal update for the October 30 show.
The concept builds on a distinctive piece of fashion history. Chalayan previously explored water-soluble clothing in his Spring/Summer 2016 runway collection, experimenting with garments designed to react to water. For Rodrigo’s tour, the designer adapted that idea into a performance-ready creation, using a special paper-like material that breaks down at a controlled pace under the artificial rainfall.
The performance was part of a roughly two-hour set that began around 8:10 p.m., following opening act Wolf Alice. Across the show, Rodrigo moved through the tour’s seasonal chapters, drawing heavily from her third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, alongside fan favorites from SOUR and GUTS. “Drop Dead,” “Good 4 U,” “Vampire,” “Traitor” and “Drivers License” were among the songs featured, with “Expectations” closing the night.
The visual spectacle arrives during another strong moment for the album. You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love is projected to return to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with approximately 72,000 equivalent album units, potentially securing a third week at the summit. Its original debut generated 485,000 units, the biggest opening week of Rodrigo’s career and the largest debut by a female act in 2026.
