TWICE’s future has become one of K-pop’s hottest talking points after reports suggested that JIHYO and TZUYU could be parting ways with JYP Entertainment for their solo careers. While the headlines immediately sparked concern among fans, the reports also point toward the group itself remaining together.
On July 14, multiple South Korean outlets reported that JIHYO is preparing to leave JYP Entertainment after more than two decades with the company. Having joined as a trainee in 2005, the TWICE leader is reportedly planning to establish her own one-person agency dedicated to managing her solo activities. According to those reports, she would continue participating in all TWICE promotions, with the group remaining under JYP’s management.
Similar reports surfaced regarding TZUYU. News1 and other Korean media outlets claimed the Taiwanese star has decided not to renew her exclusive contract with JYP Entertainment after spending over a decade at the company. Like JIHYO, she is reportedly expected to remain fully committed to TWICE’s group schedule despite pursuing individual activities elsewhere.
JYP Entertainment responded quickly, stressing that nothing has been finalized. In an official statement, the company said, “TWICE is currently in the contract renewal discussion period, and we are continuing careful discussions. We will provide an update once the matter has been finalized.”
The timing of the speculation is particularly notable. It arrives just days after TWICE concluded its massive This Is For World Tour with three encore concerts at Seoul’s KSPO Dome from July 10 to July 12. The global trek included 81 shows across Asia, North America, Europe and Oceania, with the group becoming the first foreign act to headline Japan’s National Stadium and drawing approximately 550,000 fans in North America alone.
Earlier this week, JIHYO also confirmed that TWICE will take an extended break for the remainder of 2026 following nearly 11 consecutive years of promotions. Speaking to Forbes, she explained that the members have rarely had meaningful time off since debut and emphasized that the hiatus is necessary to recharge before beginning the next chapter of their careers.
The reports also come after an especially active period for the group. TWICE released their fourth Korean studio album This Is For in 2025 before celebrating their 10th anniversary with Ten: The Story Goes On, a special project featuring the group single “Me+You” alongside solo tracks from all nine members.
