LISA has made it clear that she sees BLACKPINK as a lifelong commitment. Asked by Variety whether she plans to continue with the group or eventually take the One Direction route and pursue BLACKPINK separately, the singer said she could still see herself performing with Jennie, Jisoo and Rosé decades from now.
“If I’m 50, I still want to do Blackpink!” LISA told Variety. “We just finished our tour earlier this year, but we talk a lot about this and have discussions about doing a little break — like I did almost two years ago — but we’re always going to be together. We just finished the Blackpink tour, so now we’re back to our solo eras again.”

Her comments offer one of LISA’s clearest statements yet about BLACKPINK’s long-term future, particularly as all four members continue developing their individual careers. Rather than framing the group’s activities as an either-or choice, she described BLACKPINK and the members’ solo eras as parts of the same career, with periods of group activity followed by time for individual projects.
The sentiment also echoes LISA’s recent comments about her relationship with the other members. In the trailer for her upcoming documentary Always Lalisa, she calls Jennie, Jisoo and Rosé her “soulmates,” reflecting on the bond they developed after years of training, recording, touring and navigating the pressures of global K-pop stardom together.
Always Lalisa, directed by Sue Kim, follows LISA through 12 months of her life outside BLACKPINK. The documentary covers the making and release of her debut solo album Alter Ego, her acting debut as Mook in HBO’s The White Lotus Season 3, her Coachella performance and her return to Thailand to spend time with family and longtime friends.
That period has also established LISA as a major solo act in her own right. Alter Ego debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 in 2025 and featured “Rockstar,” “New Woman” with Rosalía and “Born Again” with Doja Cat and RAYE, while her latest campaign has already produced another series of major milestones.
“SaWaDiKa,” the first release from her upcoming six-track EP PRESS PLAY, generated 70.8 million YouTube views in its first 24 hours. The opening-day total was the biggest for any artist in 2026, while the video also made LISA the first soloist to have multiple music videos surpass 70 million views in a single day.
PRESS PLAY is scheduled for release October 23 through RCA under an exclusive license from LISA’s Lloud Co. The project has already reached No. 1 on Spotify’s Top 10 Countdown, adding another major achievement ahead of its release.
