Another packed release week has arrived, with August 14 bringing one of the strongest New Music Fridays of the summer. From highly anticipated pop comebacks to long-awaited albums and career-defining projects, listeners have plenty to add to their playlists.
KATSEYE leads this week’s lineup with WILD, the group’s third EP under HYBE x Geffen. The six-track project includes previously released singles “Pinky Up” and the Ed Sheeran co-written “Animal,” alongside new songs “Hootie Frutti,” “Bel Air,” “That Way,” and the Target-exclusive bonus track “Unloveu,” co-written and co-produced by Lara Raj. Anticipation has been enormous ahead of release, with WILD becoming Spotify’s most pre-saved project ever by a girl group after surpassing 1.27 million pre-saves. The momentum follows a breakout year that has seen “Animal” debut at No. 24 on the Billboard Hot 100—KATSEYE’s highest-charting debut to date—and the announcement of the group’s first arena outing, the WILDWORLD Tour, beginning September 1 in Dublin.
Troye Sivan officially launches his new era with “She’s The Best,” the lead single and title track from his upcoming fourth studio album, arriving October 9. The release follows weeks of cryptic teasers, a redesigned official website and cinematic visual campaigns that hinted at a new chapter. It also marks Sivan’s first solo release since 2023’s Something to Give Each Other, the acclaimed album that produced “Rush,” “Got Me Started” and “One of Your Girls,” earned multiple Grammy nominations and won Album of the Year at the ARIA Awards.
Phoebe Bridgers also returns with Lost Weekend, her first solo album since 2020’s Punisher. Released through Dead Oceans, the 16-track project arrives after lead single “Lost Boys” introduced the era in June. The album follows several years focused on boygenius, whose Grammy-winning success elevated Bridgers to new commercial heights before she shifted attention back to her solo career. A major North American and European arena tour supporting the album begins in September.
