The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has unveiled the nominations for the 96th Academy Awards. Barbie, Oppenheimer and Poor Things are among the top nominees. Billie Eilish secures her second Oscar nomination.

Barbie also dominates the Best Original Song category, with two songs (“What Was I Made For?” and “I’m Just Ken”) nominated. Billie Eilish earns her second Oscar nomination. The superstar won her first Academy Award in 2022 with “No Time To Die.” The Best Original Song category is one of the awards given to the songwriters who have composed the best original song written specifically for a film. The category was introduced in 1934, and the first winner was “The Continental” from The Gay Divorcee. Some of the most famous and memorable songs that have won this award include “Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard of Oz, “Moon River” from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, “My Heart Will Go On” from Titanic, and “Shallow” from A Star Is Born.
Academy Honorary Awards will be received by Angela Bassett, Mel Brooks and Carol Littleton.
Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, the 2024 Oscar Awards will be held on March 5, 2024, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California, and will air on ABC.
