Taylor Swift will not be part of Toy Story 5’s end credits soundtrack, despite weeks of online speculation linking the pop superstar to Pixar’s upcoming sequel. Producers behind the highly anticipated animated film have now directly addressed the rumors, shutting down fan theories that Swift was secretly attached to the project.
Speaking about the viral speculation, Pixar producers admitted they were caught off guard by the theory. “We did see it, it surprised us,” they said, before clarifying, “We watched the movie being mixed last week and the song on the end of that was not Taylor’s song.”
The clarification ends one of the more unusual fan theories to emerge during Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl era. Speculation first exploded on April 30 when Swift briefly activated — and then removed — a countdown clock on her official website. The timer reportedly featured a blue sky with white clouds, imagery that immediately sparked comparisons to the iconic wallpaper design from the original Toy Story films.
Within minutes, Swifties began connecting the dots. Some interpreted the visual as a subtle teaser for Toy Story 5, which is scheduled to hit theaters in June 2026, while others theorized Swift could be contributing an original song to the soundtrack or even making a surprise voice appearance.
The frenzy was amplified by Swift’s long-established reputation for coded digital rollouts. Across the last decade, countdown clocks and visual clues have preceded everything from album announcements to surprise re-recording releases. Even the shortest change to TaylorSwift.com tends to trigger immediate analysis, and this case was no different.
Timing also fueled the theory. The brief website update arrived in the middle of the blockbuster rollout for The Life of a Showgirl, Swift’s 12th studio album, released October 3, 2025. The project debuted with more than 4 million first-week album-equivalent units in the United States, becoming the fastest-selling album in history while securing her 15th No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Lead singles “The Fate of Ophelia” and “Opalite” both opened atop the Billboard Hot 100.
