Dua Lipa has been a dominant force this year with her third album, Radical Optimism. Despite the success of hits like “Training Season,” “Houdini,” and “Illusion,” the album was snubbed at the upcoming Grammy Awards, receiving zero nominations. The pop star, who is on the cover of Billboard’s Global No. 1s issue, reflected on the absence of Grammy nominations for Radical Optimism. Dua’s previous works, her self-titled debut album and Future Nostalgia, earned her 10 Grammy nominations, and she won Best New Artist in 2019.

Speaking to Billboard, Dua remained poised and reflective about the snub, expressing pride in her work while acknowledging the significance of industry recognition. “I’m so proud of Radical Optimism and where it’s brought me. I love that album and I’m having the time of my life performing it live,” she said. “I’ve been able to do things that I thought I could only dream of this year, so I’m really grateful.

Although she didn’t receive any nominations, Dua emphasized her support for her peers in the industry, stating, “Although it would have been nice to be recognized by your industry, especially as a woman, I’m so proud seeing so many incredible female artists nominated at the GRAMMYs this year.” She particularly praised Charli XCX and her latest album BRAT, revealing that Charli is a good friend of hers and “she deserves all the flowers.”
