Ella Langley appears to have responded to Doja Cat’s viral comments about her music, turning the rapper’s blunt dismissal into a playful Instagram moment. The country star shared a new post using Doja’s own wording as the caption: “Ella Langley? What is that?”
The post comes days after Doja Cat appeared on the latest episode of Sundae Conversation and was asked whether she liked Langley. Her initial response was straightforward: “I don’t know what that is,” before she listened to Langley’s hit “Choosin’ Texas” and offered an even stronger assessment of the song.
“I don’t care for that type of sh*t at all,” Doja said after hearing the track for the first time. “It doesn’t inspire me, it doesn’t make me feel good.” She added that if the song was No. 1 on the charts, she assumed it was receiving significant radio exposure, but made her personal opinion clear: “I just don’t f*cking like it.”
The timing is particularly notable given the scale of Ella Langley’s 2026 breakout. “Choosin’ Texas” has spent 19 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it one of the year’s biggest songs and putting Langley at the center of an unprecedented crossover run.
Released in October 2025, “Choosin’ Texas” served as the lead single from Langley’s second studio album, Dandelion. The singer co-wrote the track with Luke Dick, Miranda Lambert and Joybeth Taylor, while Lambert and Ben West handled production alongside Langley’s songwriting collaborators.
Dandelion arrived April 10 through Sawgod and Columbia Records and immediately extended Langley’s momentum. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums chart with 169,000 equivalent album units, marking a major career milestone only two years after her debut album Hungover.
