The last New Music Friday of the month brings a packed slate of new music, with JENNIE, Alex Warren and Young Thug each arriving with major releases.
JENNIE leads the pop side of the release calendar with Fallen Angel, her first EP and follow-up to her 2025 debut solo album Ruby. The three-track digital project features “FALLEN ANGEL,” “HEAVEN” and “Less than a Lover,” with the latter already building momentum after opening with 2.261 million Spotify streams and reaching No. 1 on iTunes in at least 27 countries.
The BLACKPINK star announced Fallen Angel on August 20, just eight days before its release. Its arrival follows an extensive summer festival run that included Governors Ball, Roskilde, Open’er, Mad Cool, Lollapalooza and Summer Sonic, where JENNIE previewed several previously unreleased songs.
Fans who want the complete six-song version will need the physical edition. In addition to the three digital tracks, the CD contains “Sweettooth,” “Lockitdown” and “Face,” which were announced as physical-exclusive songs.
Alex Warren also enters a new chapter with Wildchild, his new album following a rapid rise over the past year. The album’s rollout began in February with “Fever Dream,” an uptempo piano-and-drums track capturing both the rush of falling for someone and the dizzying experience of sudden fame.
“Fine Place to Die,” “Passenger” and “Rescuer” followed as additional previews. “Passenger” arrived alongside a deliberately chaotic music video in which Warren attempts increasingly ridiculous stunts to get a girl’s attention, only for her to remain focused on her phone.
Wildchild was formally announced in early June through an Instagram sketch featuring Kevin James as a director watching a production collapse around him. The finished album contains 13 tracks.
Young Thug rounds out the week with Slime Language 3, the latest YSL Records compilation and the sequel to 2021’s Slime Language 2. The project arrives at midnight on August 28 and reportedly contains more than 30 tracks, spotlighting a new generation of artists associated with the label, including 1300SAINT, Tezzus, diamond* and iyrus.
Noteworthy releases also come from Olivia Rodrigo, Post Malone, Jonas Brothers, Temper City, OneRepublic, Rod Wave, Lennon Stella, Sara Bareilles, and more.
