The 81st Golden Globe Awards are set to take place tonight, January 7, at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. The nominations list was unveiled on December 11, 2023, with “Barbie” and “Succession” leading with nine nods each, followed by “Oppenheimer” with eight. Two new categories have been added for this year’s ceremony: “Cinematic and Box Office Achievement” and “Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television.” Music stars like Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish, and Taylor Swift have earned Golden Globe nominations. Best Original Song Nominees
Six songs are nominated for the coveted prize, with the “Barbie” soundtrack dominating this category with three nominations. Billie Eilish and Finneas are nominated for “What Was I Made For?” Both of them have already tasted a Golden Globe win, taking home the Best Original Song in 2021 with “No Time To Die.” Another strong contender is “Dance The Night,” earning Dua Lipa her first Golden Globes nomination. Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, nominated for “Dance The Night” and “I’m Just Ken,” previously triumphed in 2018 when they won Best Original Song with “Shallow” from “A Star Is Born.” Bruce Springsteen returns to the Golden Globe nominees after last being nominated in 2008. The Boss is part of the elite group of artists with multiple wins, having won in 1993 with “Streets of Philadelphia” and in 2008 with “The Wrestler.” Along with Dua Lipa, Lenny Kravitz is a first-time nominee, scoring a nomination with “Road to Freedom” from “Rustin.”
Taylor Swift is the only singer this year to score a Golden Globe nomination outside the Best Original Song category. Her concert film, “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,” is nominated in the newly added category Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.
