KATSEYE is heading into the release of WILD with its biggest streaming success yet. The global girl group’s new song, “Animal,” earned 21.7 million streams worldwide during its first week on Spotify, debuting at No. 9 on the Weekly Global Spotify Chart and becoming the highest-charting song of their career.
The milestone gives KATSEYE its second career top 10 on Spotify’s weekly global ranking, following “Gabriela,” while establishing “Animal” as the group’s strongest opening week to date. The achievement continues a breakout year for Sophia, Lara, Daniela, Megan and Yoonchae as anticipation builds for their new EP.
The momentum was visible from the song’s very first day. Released on July 24, “Animal” opened with 3.346 million streams, debuting at No. 9 on Spotify’s Daily Global Songs chart—the biggest first-day Spotify debut of KATSEYE’s career. As the week progressed, the track climbed to No. 6 on the Daily Global Spotify Chart, surpassing every previous release by the group and setting a new personal best. It also became KATSEYE’s highest-ever Daily Global Spotify debut.
Beyond the streaming numbers, “Animal” has generated significant conversation thanks to its ambitious visual rollout. Directed by Cody Critcheloe, the music video blends surreal imagery, mirrored realities and cinematic choreography while featuring a surprise appearance from Academy Award-nominated actress Demi Moore.
The new song serves as the latest preview of KATSEYE’s sophomore EP, scheduled for release on August 14 via HYBE x Geffen Records.
Elsewhere on this week’s Weekly Global Spotify Chart, the top three remained unchanged. Shakira and Burna Boy’s “Dai Dai” held at No. 1, followed by Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj’s “Beauty and a Beat” at No. 2, while Ariana Grande’s “hate that i made you love me” stayed at No. 3. JENNIE also made a notable debut as her new solo single, “Less Than A Lover,” entered at No. 66 with 12.2 million streams.
On the albums chart, Olivia Rodrigo continued her remarkable dominance as you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love spent a seventh consecutive week at No. 1 on Spotify’s Weekly Global Albums ranking.
