KATSEYE are enjoying one of the biggest weeks of their career, scoring a top-five film at the U.S. box office while simultaneously moving toward a projected No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200.
Two days before their new EP WILD arrived on August 14, the global girl group premiered their first theatrical documentary, KATSEYE: Wild Hearts. Released in approximately 720 to 750 North American theaters through Trafalgar Releasing on August 12, the special-event film opened at No. 5 at the U.S. box office, earning an estimated $3.95 million during its limited run.
Directed by Nadia Hallgren, whose previous work includes Becoming and Netflix’s Pop Star Academy, the 80-minute documentary follows the members from the intense competition of Dream Academy through their rapid rise as a global act. Featuring previously unseen rehearsal footage, tour moments, candid interviews, and fan-submitted Eyekon videos, Wild Hearts serves as both a behind-the-scenes portrait and a tribute to the community that has supported the group’s journey.
The momentum has carried directly into the release of WILD. According to early projections from Hits Daily Double, the EP is expected to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with approximately 169,000 equivalent album units earned during its opening week in the United States. If the forecast holds, the project would deliver the biggest U.S. debut for a girl group in nearly two decades, marking another major milestone for the HYBE x Geffen Records act.
Released on August 14, WILD represents KATSEYE’s boldest musical statement yet. The five-track project includes the previously released singles “Animal” and “Pinky Up,” alongside new songs “Hootie Frutti,” “Bel Air,” and “That Way.” Fans who purchased the Target-exclusive edition also received “Unloveu,” a bonus track co-written and co-produced by member Lara Raj.
Streaming numbers have reinforced the EP’s breakout start. WILD generated approximately 10.75 million first-day streams on Global Spotify, surpassing the 8.29 million first-day total posted by Beautiful Chaos in 2025. Every song from the project also entered Spotify’s Daily Global chart, led by “Animal,” which returned to its peak of No. 5 with 3.379 million streams, while “Hootie Frutti” debuted at No. 12 with 2.97 million streams.
Promotion has extended well beyond streaming platforms. During release week, KATSEYE performed on NBC’s Today as part of the Citi Concert Series before appearing at D23, where the members paid tribute to Disney Legend Susan Egan with a performance of “I Won’t Say (I’m in Love)” from Hercules. Those high-profile appearances have kept the group firmly in the spotlight as anticipation builds for the Wildworld Tour, which begins on September 1 in Dublin.
