Kesha has expressed her solidarity with K-pop group NewJeans following the Seoul court’s decision to uphold the validity of the group’s exclusive contract with ADOR. In a brief but heartfelt message shared on social media, the “Tik Tok” singer wrote, “My heart is with you NewJeans.”
For many, Kesha’s words carried deeper weight given her own long and painful legal battle for artistic and personal freedom. Her message comes in the wake of a verdict that has left NewJeans’ future uncertain, as the members plan to appeal the ruling that binds them to ADOR despite their public desire to part ways with the label.

On Thursday (Oct. 30), the Seoul Central District Court ruled that NewJeans must continue their activities under ADOR, rejecting their claims that the relationship of trust with the company had been irreparably damaged. The court affirmed that the exclusive contract signed in April 2022 remains valid and ordered the group to bear litigation costs. This decision followed months of failed mediation attempts and the high-profile dismissal of Min Hee-jin, ADOR’s founding CEO and NewJeans’ creative director.
Kesha’s decision to speak up underscores the universal struggle artists often face when bound by restrictive contracts. The pop star’s empathy for NewJeans is rooted in experience. Beginning in 2014, Kesha was locked in a decade-long legal battle against producer Dr. Luke and his label, Kemosabe Records. She accused him of abuse and sought to void her recording contract, while he countersued for defamation. After years of litigation, Kesha and Dr. Luke reached a confidential settlement in June 2023, freeing her from her obligations and granting her long-awaited creative independence.
