Rihanna may have a lot more music waiting in the vault than even her most optimistic fans imagined. During a Fenty Beauty TikTok livestream, the superstar revealed that she currently has “at least” 170 unreleased songs.

The revelation came while Rihanna was discussing the Gloss Bomb Vault, a Fenty Beauty collection containing 10 products. She used the beauty vault as a comparison for her music catalog, jokingly suggesting that she has the equivalent of at least 17 such “vaults” of unreleased songs. That would put the number at roughly 170 tracks, although Rihanna did not provide a precise count.

For fans waiting for R9, the sheer size of the vault adds another intriguing detail to a comeback story that has stretched across nearly a decade. Rihanna’s last studio album, Anti, arrived in January 2016 and has remained one of the most enduring albums of the streaming era. Since then, her musical output has been limited to select appearances and soundtrack releases while she built Fenty into a global beauty and fashion business and started a family with A$AP Rocky.

Rocky recently provided the clearest indication yet that Rihanna is actively working on new music. During an appearance on The Jason Lee Show, he was asked whether their relationship and family life were responsible for the delay surrounding her next album. Rocky immediately rejected that idea before revealing that Rihanna was back in the studio.

“She in the studio right now,” he said before realizing he may have revealed too much. “Yeah, I said it. Sorry, babe.” He then added that she was “cooking,” prompting an immediate wave of excitement among fans.

The comment followed several signs throughout 2026 that Rihanna may be moving closer to a musical comeback. She was photographed entering a recording studio in New York and has referenced studio sessions herself, while her surprise appearance at JAY-Z’s final Yankee Stadium concert gave fans another reminder of how much anticipation still surrounds her return.

During that performance, Rihanna joined JAY-Z for “Run This Town” before delivering “B**** Better Have My Money” on her own. Addressing the crowd, she acknowledged the long break from live performances by joking, “Y’all know I’m rusty, right? It’s been a while. Y’all with me right now?”

Her recent musical activity has been sparse but significant. Rihanna appeared on “Lift Me Up” from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in 2022, earning an Oscar nomination, and returned in 2025 with “Friend of Mine” for the Smurfs soundtrack.
