Leigh-Anne Pinnock steps into her solo era with My Ego Told Me To, her long-awaited debut studio album. The project drops tonight, February 20, via Virgin Music Group. For an artist whose global profile was shaped in Little Mix, this record marks the beginning of a chapter defined by creative reset, independence, and a clear sense of authorship.
Here is everything you need to know — from its origins and singles to the full tracklist and upcoming tour.
The Road to My Ego Told Me To
After Little Mix concluded The Confetti Tour in May 2022, Leigh-Anne began building her solo foundation. She had previously aligned with TaP Music for management and signed with Warner Records. Over the following year, she recorded across the UK and Jamaica, collaborating with writers including Abby-Lynn Keen, Tayla Parx, Khris Riddick-Tynes, Kassa, and Dyo. Those Jamaican sessions, in particular, would later shape the album’s reggae-rooted identity.
Her debut single, “Don’t Say Love,” arrived in June 2023 with a UK garage pulse and a strong commercial response. The follow-up, “My Love,” featuring Ayra Starr, further expanded her Afro-pop and dancehall influences. In 2024, she released the standalone EP No Hard Feelings, clarifying that it existed separately from her eventual album vision.
By early 2025, Leigh-Anne departed Warner Records, later citing budget limitations surrounding the album campaign. In May 2025, she announced a new independent partnership with Virgin Music Group.
The Singles That Shaped the Era
The official album rollout began in July 2025 with “Been a Minute,” a Masters at Work–sampling release that leaned confidently into house and Caribbean rhythms. “Burning Up” followed in August, balancing sultry R&B textures with bright pop structure. October brought “Dead and Gone.” Alongside these releases, Leigh-Anne also appeared on “Hello” with Sigala and Jonita Gandhi. She confirmed My Ego Told Me To on October 15, 2025, making it one of the most anticipated albums of the first quarter of 2026.
Sound and Themes
The standard edition includes 15 tracks, co-written by Leigh-Anne with collaborators such as Rvssian, Fred Ball, PRGRSHN, Clarence Coffee Jr., Keen, and Odeal. Sonically, the album blends pop with reggae foundations and contemporary R&B. Lyrically, it focuses on autonomy, self-worth, and reinvention.
In interviews, Leigh-Anne has described the album as “the truest representation” of herself — versatile, heritage-driven, and unafraid to be emotionally direct.
