Leigh-Anne Pinnock has revealed a pivotal moment behind her decision to go independent, confirming that Warner Records declined to fund the release of her debut solo album. The disclosure came via a personal 2025 recap video shared on her social media, where the former Little Mix member reflected on a year defined by risk, resilience, and creative self-belief.

In the video, Pinnock candidly explained that her former label ultimately refused to provide a budget for her debut project. “So long story short the label have said no basically. They don’t have the budget to put my album out,” she said. “So I’m ready to just take the reins. It’ll be a new chapter and I just can’t wait and I’m needing this shake.”

The post was accompanied by a message that underscored Pinnock’s mindset entering the next phase of her career. “Proof that when you trust and back yourself, doors open,” she wrote. “If you needed a sign, this is it. Don’t shrink for anyone. You are enough.” She closed by looking ahead to 2026, teasing her debut album My Ego Told Me To, upcoming headline tour, and a renewed focus on growth and independence.

Pinnock’s comments add important context to her move away from Warner Records earlier this year. In May 2025, she officially partnered with Virgin Music Group as an independent artist, a decision that has since reshaped her rollout strategy. Since then, she has steadily built momentum with a series of solo releases, including “Been a Minute,” “Burning Up,” and “Dead and Gone,” while also collaborating with Sigala and Jonita on “Hello.”

Her debut solo album, My Ego Told Me To, is now scheduled for release on February 20, 2026. The project will be supported by the My Ego Told Me Tour, an eight-date UK and European run set for April 2026.
