Speculation around Manon’s status in KATSEYE intensified after the singer removed the group’s name from her Instagram bio, a move that arrived just hours after the first teaser for “Pinky Up” dropped. The timing has fueled growing concern among fans, especially as her absence from the group’s latest visuals becomes more apparent.

The teaser for “Pinky Up,” released ahead of its April 9 debut, features Daniela, Yoonchae, Lara, Sophia, and Megan, with no sign of Manon. That lineup has led fans to question whether KATSEYE is temporarily—or permanently—operating as a five-member act. Reactions online have been immediate, with some expressing frustration over the lack of clarity and others voicing support for Manon amid the uncertainty. “oh manon i’m so sorry this happened… you deserve BETTER,” one user wrote on X/Twitter, while another called on HYBE and Geffen Records to provide an update.

Shortly after, Manon issued a new statement on Weverse: “Thank you so much for all the love and support you’ve been sending my way. I’m really grateful for the patience and kindness everyone has shown during this time. HxG and I are having positive conversations and I feel supported. I’m happy and I’m healthy. I’ll share more soon. Thank you for always being there for me.

Context surrounding her hiatus remains critical. Manon stepped back from group activities in late February, with an official statement confirming she would focus on her health and wellbeing. At the time, no return date was provided, though she later reassured fans directly that she was “healthy” and “taking care” of herself. That open-ended pause left room for speculation, which has only intensified as the group moves forward with a major comeback cycle.

“Pinky Up” marks a pivotal release for KATSEYE. Announced on March 31, the single arrives less than 24 hours before their scheduled debut at Coachella, positioning it as a key moment in their global expansion. The group’s momentum has been building steadily, following the success of “Internet Girl,” which debuted at No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100 and later climbed to No. 13 on Spotify’s Daily Global chart.

Fan scrutiny has also been shaped by recent activity across social platforms. In the hours following the comeback announcement, all five visible members engaged with promotional posts, while Manon remained inactive—no reposts, comments, or public acknowledgment. That silence, combined with the bio update and her absence from the teaser, has created a narrative that the group’s next phase may proceed without her.

Additional context adds complexity to the situation. KATSEYE previously addressed thousands of incidents of online abuse in late 2025, including targeted racist attacks against members and their families. As the group’s only Black member, Manon has been central to those conversations, with some fans suggesting that external pressures may have influenced her decision to step back. No official link has been made between those incidents and her hiatus, but the timing has not gone unnoticed within the fanbase.

For now, no formal statement confirms a departure, and her hiatus status technically remains unchanged. Still, the combination of visual absence, social media changes, and the group’s advancing schedule has shifted the conversation from temporary pause to a broader question about her future in KATSEYE.
