The 40th MTV Video Music Awards are set to take place next Tuesday, September 12, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. For the second consecutive year, the show will be hosted by the 7-time winner Nicki Minaj, who is also a nominee in five categories this year, including Video of the Year with her hit “Super Freaky Girl.” Leading the nominations is Taylor Swift, with an impressive 11 nods. Additionally, Shakira will be honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, while Diddy will receive the prestigious Global Icon Award.

Megan Thee Stallion’s “Her” earned three nominations: Best Direction, Best Choreography, and Best Art Direction.

Demi Lovato will grace the VMAs stage for the first time since 2017. She’s nominated for Best Pop and Video for Good and is hopeful of taking home her first Video Music Award.
- Diddy

The iconic rapper, set to receive the Global Icon Award, will treat the audience to a medley of his career hits.
- Doja Cat

Doja Cat is likely to perform songs from her upcoming new album, “Scarlet,” including tracks like “Paint The Town Red” and “Demons.” With three previous VMAs under her belt, she’s also nominated in five categories.

This quintet will deliver a performance of “Superhero (Heroes & Villains),” a track from Metro Boomin’s latest studio album, “Heroes & Villains.”

The Queen of Rap will light up the stage with her new single, “Last Time I Saw You,” the second release from her upcoming album “Pink Friday 2,” due out on November 17. With seven MTV Video Music Awards already to her name, she’s a force to be reckoned with.
- Olivia Rodrigo

While there aren’t any confirmed song choices, Olivia is likely to perform tracks from her new album, “GUTS.” She received five VMA nominations, including Video of the Year and Song of the Year. In 2021, she clinched Best New Artist, Song of the Year, and Push Performance of the Year.

The Latin icon will be celebrated with the prestigious Video Vanguard Award and will treat the audience to a medley of her greatest hits.
