Role Model made his long-awaited Saturday Night Live debut this weekend — and he didn’t do it alone. The 28-year-old singer-songwriter brought major star power to Studio 8H when Charli XCX joined him onstage as “Sally” during his lively performance of “Sally, When the Wine Runs Out.”
The episode, which aired live on October 11, was hosted by Amy Poehler. Role Model — real name Tucker Pillsbury — delivered a set that perfectly balanced charisma and vulnerability, showcasing both his viral energy and emotional depth. He opened with his breakout hit, “Sally, When the Wine Runs Out,” from the deluxe edition of his album Kansas Anymore. Carried by playful lyrics and an infectious indie-pop groove, the track has become a fan favorite thanks to its signature live twist: each performance features a surprise guest stepping in as “Sally.” Past appearances have included Olivia Rodrigo, Hilary Duff, Troye Sivan, and even SNL’s own Bowen Yang — so fans were eager to see who would take the role this time.

Midway through the song, Role Model paused to ask his trademark question: “Where’s my Sally?” The crowd erupted as Charli XCX stormed onto the stage in a dazzling cameo, fully embracing the character. Sporting black sunglasses and a playful smirk, she danced through the bridge, slid her shades onto Pillsbury’s face, blew a kiss, and strutted offstage to roaring applause.
For his second number, “Some Protector,” Role Model slowed things down, offering a more intimate performance that highlighted his emotional storytelling and raspy vocals.
