The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) has officially named “APT.” by BLACKPINK’s Rosé and Bruno Mars the Biggest-Selling Global Single of 2025. The announcement, made on February 19, confirms the collaboration as the year’s No. 1 track in what the organization describes as one of the most competitive cycles in the chart’s history.
The achievement is historic on multiple fronts. “APT.” becomes the first single led by an artist outside North America or Europe to top the IFPI Global Single Chart. It is also the first winning track to feature non-English lyrics.
The IFPI Global Single Chart measures worldwide consumption across paid and ad-supported streaming, as well as downloads, converting activity into chart units through a regionally weighted methodology. In 2024, the federation enhanced its subscription-stream calculations to better reflect economic realities across territories. Within that framework, “APT.” emerged as the year’s most consumed track globally.
For Bruno Mars, the win marks his first IFPI Global Single No. 1 since “Just the Way You Are” in 2011. For Rosé, the milestone is equally significant, as she becomes the first K-pop female artist — and the first K-pop artist overall — to claim the top spot.
Elsewhere in the top 10, “Golden” by HUNTR/X, featured in the animated film K-Pop Demon Hunters, landed at No. 2 despite a mid-year release. At No. 4, Bruno Mars reappeared alongside Lady Gaga on “Die With A Smile.” Meanwhile, Kendrick Lamar and SZA secured No. 8 with “luther.” Notably, each of the top five singles from 2024 remained present on the 2025 chart.
The announcement follows closely behind IFPI’s confirmation that Taylor Swift was named Biggest-Selling Global Artist of 2025, extending her record-setting streak. IFPI will unveil its Global Album Chart results later this week.
