When The Weeknd released “Dancing in the Flames” as the lead single for his highly anticipated new album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, fans expected the track to play a key role in shaping the album’s overall sound and narrative. However, when the album arrived on January 31, 2025, listeners were surprised to find that the song was missing from the final tracklist. As of now, The Weeknd—real name Abel Tesfaye—has not provided an explanation for its omission. The decision to exclude a previously released lead single is unusual, leading to widespread speculation among fans and critics alike.

One popular theory is that the song’s commercial performance may have influenced its removal. While “Dancing in the Flames” was met with excitement upon release, its streaming numbers and chart success did not match the impact of previous lead singles from The Weeknd’s past albums, such as “Blinding Lights” or “Take My Breath.” In the U.S., the song debuted at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100, while it entered the top 10 on the Pop Airplay and Rhythmic charts. In Europe, it performed slightly better, peaking at No. 12 on the UK Singles Chart and earning a Gold certification in France. Others believe the pop star may have decided that the song no longer fit within the cohesive vision of the final album.

Despite being excluded from Hurry Up Tomorrow, “Dancing in the Flames” remains available on streaming platforms as a standalone single, allowing fans to continue enjoying it separately from the album.
