The Path to Hurry Up Tomorrow
Hurry Up Tomorrow serves as the final installment in a trilogy that began with After Hours (2020) and continued with Dawn FM (2022). The trilogy is structured around different phases of the night and morning: After Hours represents the late-night hours, Dawn FM captures the moments leading up to sunrise, and Hurry Up Tomorrow reflects the period after sunrise.
As The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) has hinted multiple times over the past few years, this album marks his final project under his iconic moniker. From this perspective, the title Hurry Up Tomorrow symbolizes his eagerness to explore what comes next. “I just want to know what comes after,” he recently told Variety. “I want to know what tomorrow looks like.” He has also described this album as the culmination of his artistic journey.
While Hurry Up Tomorrow has been in the works since 2023, The Weeknd gave fans their first glimpse of the project in September 2024 during his concert at MorumBIS Stadium in São Paulo, Brazil. Shortly after, “Dancing in the Flames” was released as the lead single. Two additional singles followed: “Timeless” featuring Playboi Carti and “São Paulo” featuring Anitta.
Tracklist and Collaborations
The Weeknd has yet to reveal the official tracklist, but several songs have been previewed during recent live performances. In October, he debuted a track titled “Open Hearts” during the After Hours til Dawn Tour in Australia, with a snippet of its music video teased last week.
As mentioned above, The Weeknd performed several unreleased songs during his São Paulo show. While it’s unclear if all of them will be included on Hurry Up Tomorrow, here are the rumored titles:
• “Wake Me Up”
• “Take Me Back to LA”
• “Run Away”
• “Regular”
• “In Heaven”
• “The Crowd”
