Tinashe could be on the verge of the biggest Billboard 200 debut of her career. According to Nora Music’s latest projections, Popstar is pacing toward 31,000 equivalent album units in its opening week in the U.S., putting the 33-year-old singer in position to potentially score her first Billboard 200 top 10 album.
The projection would mark a significant turnaround for an artist whose chart history has stretched across more than a decade. Tinashe’s current Billboard 200 high remains Aquarius, her 2014 RCA debut, which entered and peaked at No. 17 with roughly 18,800 first-week copies.

Her subsequent albums have landed progressively lower on the main albums chart. Nightride peaked at No. 89 in 2016, followed by Joyride at No. 58 in 2018. After departing RCA, Songs for You reached No. 147 in 2019, 333 peaked at No. 175 in 2021 and Quantum Baby reached No. 199 in 2024. BB/Ang3l, released in 2023, missed the Billboard 200 altogether while reaching No. 32 on Top Album Sales.
Popstar, released September 25 through Nice Life, Atlantic and Tinashe Music, represents a different commercial strategy. The eighth studio album moves decisively toward pop, with Ricky Reed, Zach Sekoff and Machinedrum among its principal collaborators, while the campaign was built around singles including “Too Easy,” “Crash Out,” “Melatonin” and “Pillow Fight.”
Commercially, the album received another boost through a series of expanded iTunes editions. The standard 16-track version was followed two days later by an iTunes-exclusive edition containing four additional tracks: a PinkPantheress flip of “Twentyfive Eight,” a Nick León version of “Brainrot,” an umru flip of “Popstar” and an extended version of “Too Easy.”
That bonus edition reached No. 1 on the U.S. iTunes Albums chart on September 28, overtaking Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore. By October 1, multiple Popstar editions had entered the U.S. iTunes top 10.
