NBA YoungBoy is officially back on the clock. After weeks of uncertainty surrounding his delayed project, the Baton Rouge rapper has confirmed a new release date for his upcoming album Slime Cry. On Monday, January 12, YoungBoy launched a fresh countdown on Instagram, signaling that the album is now set to arrive this Friday, January 16.

The announcement comes after Slime Cry missed its originally expected late-November release window, a delay that sparked concern among fans. At the time, speculation spread quickly online, with some questioning whether the project had been shelved entirely. YoungBoy addressed those fears directly, offering reassurance in his typically blunt style. “Oh you want my album I forgot. Loading…,” he wrote, making it clear the pause was temporary.

More recently, the rapper hinted at an unconventional release strategy. In a short message shared on social media, YoungBoy suggested the album could arrive without warning, writing, “My album will just hit your phone unexpectedly.”

First announced on October 16, Slime Cry was framed as another major chapter in an already relentless run. The album is expected to mark YoungBoy’s third full-length release in just over a year, following More Leaks, MASA, and DESHAWN.

Anticipation around the project intensified during the MASA Tour, particularly after YoungBoy brought out Birdman and Herm The Black Sheep in Atlanta for a surprise performance of “F**k That N***a.” The track later received an official release in November, adding fuel to speculation that Slime Cry was nearing completion. He has since released “Top Cobain,” offering another glimpse into the album.
