NBA YoungBoy opens the new year with his highly anticipated album Slime Cry, which is expected to arrive tonight, January 16. The LP marks the rapper’s third full-length project in less than a year. Following More Leaks, MASA, and DESHAWN, the album reinforces the pace at which YoungBoy continues to shape the modern rap landscape. With the album just hours away, here’s everything you need to know.
YoungBoy first teased the project on October 16, when he announced the album. The rollout intensified once the MASA Tour kicked off. During his performance in Atlanta, he brought out Birdman and Herm The Black Sheep to perform the explosive track “F**k That N***a,” which was later released on November 21. Slime Cry was originally expected to drop on November 28, but it was delayed at the last minute. In the following weeks, NBA YoungBoy teased a surprise release without revealing a date, until a few days ago when a countdown appeared—and then disappeared—on his Instagram Story.
Expected to drop tonight, Slime Cry was preceded by three back-to-back singles released between January 14 and 15, all accompanied by music videos: “Creep Up On Ya,” “Baby Boo,” and “Switches.”
The album’s title draws from YoungBoy’s long-running “slime” motif—an expression tied to loyalty and brotherhood within his world. Across his past work, the term has evolved into a symbol of emotional depth, representing not only his inner circle but also the pain, sacrifice, and survival connected to his upbringing.
Although the official tracklist has not been publicly released ahead of the debut, fans anticipate a sprawling project of around 20 songs—an approach consistent with his past album structures.
