That a great song works in any genre is proven once again — and this time with brutal force. Augsburg-based band Death in Fiction have reimagined ABBA’s disco anthem “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)” as a Melodic Death Metal wrecking ball. Released on August 8, via Hicktown Records, the track transforms the Swedish pop icons’ glittering classic into a storm of blast beats, growling vocals, and crushing guitar riffs.
What makes the cover so striking is how the instantly recognizable ABBA melody collides with the band’s extreme sound. Instead of soft disco rhythms, listeners are pulled into a darker world where nostalgia meets aggression — creating a version that is both faithful and completely new. It’s a daring reinterpretation that proves how timeless songwriting can thrive across even the most unexpected genres.
