Tyler, The Creator brought GOLF WANG to one of football’s biggest stages on October 25, as FC Barcelona wore the streetwear brand’s logo during El Clásico against Real Madrid at Spotify Camp Nou. The takeover marked the first time GOLF WANG appeared on the pitch as part of Spotify’s ongoing partnership with the Spanish club, extending a collaboration that brought together music, fashion and football.

Instead of the usual Spotify branding on the front of Barcelona’s jersey, players wore a bold yellow GOLF logo, reflecting the distinctive aesthetic of the brand Tyler founded in 2011. The rapper and designer attended the match to celebrate the collaboration, which made him the ninth artist to participate in Spotify’s series of special FC Barcelona jersey takeovers.

Previous editions have featured Drake, ROSALÍA, The Rolling Stones, KAROL G, Coldplay, Travis Scott, Ed Sheeran and Olivia Rodrigo. However, Tyler’s involvement marked a significant development for the initiative: for the first time, an artist was given full creative control over the project, allowing him to shape a wider campaign rather than simply place a logo on the team’s shirt.

The collaboration extended into fashion and film, with Tyler directing a short film to accompany the release and developing a lifestyle collection with Nike. The range included letterman and track jackets, retro-inspired football jerseys, hoodies, T-shirts featuring “GOL!!F” graphics and accessories. It launched earlier in October at GOLF WANG stores in Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo, Sydney and London, alongside online sales and selected Barça and Nike outlets.

The match-quality jerseys were limited to 1,899 pieces, referencing FC Barcelona’s founding year. Additional collector’s editions included 22 shirts signed by players from the men’s and women’s teams, as well as 11 signed by Tyler himself. The design also reached beyond the men’s El Clásico fixture: Barcelona Femení wore the kit against Granada on October 24, and the jersey was made available in KONAMI’s eFootball game.

Barcelona’s pre-match celebrations began on October 24 with Copa De Golf, an event combining music, fashion and football in the city. Yung Taco headlined with a DJ set, joined by Barcelona-based artists Bexnil, Alu, duna and Mushkaa.

On the pitch, however, Barcelona suffered a 1-2 defeat to Real Madrid. Kylian Mbappé scored twice, while Raphinha found the net for the hosts. The result ended Barcelona’s unbeaten start to the league campaign and left the club three points behind Real Madrid at the top of La Liga.
