BLACKPINK have once again cemented their status as global pop leaders, breaking a major K-pop streaming record as anticipation builds for their long-awaited 2026 comeback. The group’s 2019 hit “Kill This Love” has officially surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify, marking another historic milestone in their already record-setting career.

With this achievement, BLACKPINK become the first female K-pop act in history to have multiple songs exceed 1 billion streams each on Spotify. Their previous billion-stream track, “How You Like That,” currently stands at over 1.21 billion streams. To date, no other K-pop girl group has matched this feat, and worldwide, only Fifth Harmony share the distinction of having two standalone songs reach the billion-stream mark on the platform.

Released as the title track of their Kill This Love EP in April 2019, the song marked a turning point for BLACKPINK’s international dominance. Built around explosive production and a sharp, confidence-driven message, the track resonated far beyond K-pop’s core audience.

“Kill This Love” laid much of the groundwork for the group’s success. The single peaked at No. 2 on South Korea’s Gaon Digital Chart and became BLACKPINK’s first top 50 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, the highest-charting song by a female K-pop act in the United States at the time. The track also earned major accolades, including Music Video of the Year at the 2019 People’s Choice Awards, and Favorite Music Video Choreography at the iHeartRadio Music Awards.
