Ashley Wineland is a name that’s been making waves in country music—and with good reason. At just 26, this rising star has already cemented her place in the industry with a unique blend of 90s and early 2000s country songwriting paired with a fierce rock-and-roll edge. From major performances at MLB and NFL events to NASCAR and Supercross Championships, Ashley has captivated audiences across the nation. Now, with her new single “Tumbleweed” hitting the airwaves, she’s ready to offer fans yet another heartfelt anthem.
In this exclusive interview, Ashley opens up about the inspiration behind “Tumbleweed,” a poignant ballad that delves deep into the emotions of a love gone wrong. This release follows her two previous singles of the year: “Crank It Up,” which she presented to InMusic back in June, and “Heartbreak Boots.”
In our chat, Ashley discusses the meaning of her new single, and reflects on what she hopes listeners will take away from it. With a tour in full swing and a fourth studio album slated for 2025, this rising star shows no signs of slowing down.

Can you tell us about your new single “Tumbleweed”?
“Tumbleweed” is a moderate tempo, almost ballad-like song about a whirlwind romance gone wrong. It goes through all the emotions of a relationship you thought would last, but then the other person leaves you in the dust to go chase other people. It’s got hope, heartbreak, bitter sweetness and a lot of reflecting. Truly a country love song.
What is the meaning behind this song?
For me, this song serves as a reflection and almost a “next girl” warning about how not to get carried away in a romance before you really know someone. There are people who truly love you, and others that pretend to, solely to get what they want at the time before moving on.
What do you hope listeners will take away from this new song?
I hope listeners soak up the epic instrumentation behind the lyrics, that the story plays out for them like a movie in their mind when they listen to it. While I don’t wish for anyone to relate to the feelings and story in the song, if they do, I hope it serves as a release and healing balm to their heartache.
“Tumbleweed” marks your third release this year, following “Crank It Up” and “Heartbreak Boots.” If you were a listener, which track would you pick and why?
That’s like asking a mother to pick her favorite child! Each song stands on its own and is so unique. I listen to “Crank It Up” when I need to put on my fighter spirit, “Heartbreak Boots” for when I want to rock out and get into my “hot-girl” energy, and “Tumbleweed” when I want that real country, sing-it-from-the-rooftops, emotional release. I say, pick a track depending on your mood or what you need and turn the volume dial up from there!

You’re in the middle of a tour across the country. Which song do you enjoy performing live the most?
It’s been so fun to see everyone rock out to the new songs! “Heartbreak Boots” has been a fun one at every show to get people going with. But I do have to say, I love seeing the women in the audience feel the power of “Tumbleweed”.
Is there any thing else you’d like people to know?
I am looking forward to sharing my 4th studio album with my Winelander community in 2025! We are also going out on tour again next year, so I cannot wait to see so many fans at the shows and play new states and cities.
