Where are you from?
I grew up in Lincolnshire England, from the historical fishing town of Grimsby, next to the lovely seaside resort of Cleethorpes. Like many families in Grimsby my heritage is deeply rooted in the fishing industry and I am proud of my hometown and the Grimsby people who live there. I have a new song Sail Away which I intend to release later this year with a video to promote some of the beauty spots of my local area – watch this space!
How would you define your music?
I would define my music as soulful pop/folk scented ballads with a theatrical twist, the songs can reflect a variety of themes such as love, self-love, loss, betrayal, and heartbreak which have been inspired by my own personal experiences as a singer songwriter and woman. I am on a mission to help uplift and empower others through my music and hope this helps them through any challenges they face. I can imagine my songs in the background of a film, television or drama series and hope to share my catalogue of songs with music supervisors.
Can you walk us through your creative process when crafting new music?
The creative process behind writing a song is one of the most magical parts for me as a songwriter and it is exciting to see how an initial idea can completely change direction at any time. When songwriting, I usually begin by experimenting with different chords on the piano and then humming a melody over the top and the lyrics develop from there. Usually, I prefer to choose lyrics that best reflect how I feel, some songs can be biographical and others fictional. I find as a songwriter it can be a vulnerable place because you are expressing a part of yourself to the world, yet this is the part I love the most! I never tell the true meaning, maintaining a mystery in my songs, personal to me, but at the same time enabling my listeners to make their own interpretations, allowing the songs to be relatable to their personal experiences, feelings, and perceptions.
Where do you draw inspiration from?
As a songwriter I write from my own personal experiences and I have found this really healing. I also draw inspiration from other songwriters such as artists like Kate Bush and Taylor Swift. From a young age I was introduced to Kate Bush’s music and I was very much drawn to the storytelling behind her lyrics and how emotive and theatrical her voice and performance was. As a drama and music teacher, I feel I utilise all my musical and acting abilities to not only create songs but to perform them and sing them as a performing artist and storyteller.
Your debut single “Golden Dreams” dates back to 2016. How has your music evolved through the years?
Golden Dreams will always be my signature tune, the first song I wrote straight from the heart and the song that I feel gave me belief in my own songwriting ability. As I have changed and grown as an individual, I feel my music has evolved too. I feel the truth of my performance overtime has come through the emotional connection I share with the lyrics and the storytelling which has enabled me to perform my music with raw honest emotion. I subconsciously have started to write darker sad songs and have become more drawn to writing songs that would be well suited in the background of a love or crime drama series or film.
In contrast, some songs have lent towards country pop and a lighter musical more acoustic vibe, revealing an uplifting side to my music. For example, Butterfly became an uplifting inspirational song and I always relate this song to my pupils and the hope they succeed in everything they desire to achieve. The intentions of my songs are to describe situations that the audience and listeners can relate to and most importantly enjoy.
Can you tell us about your new single “Hot To Cold”?
Hot To Cold is a sad pop woven heart pulling ballad which focuses on the raw emotions experienced during a harsh breakup. Hot To Cold is the heartbreak song we all need; the vocals are emotive and meaningful and many will be able to place themselves in the story through personal experience and the sadness and grief of a love struggling then lost.
What is the meaning behind this song?
The song is based around the raw emotions experienced during a painful break up and my intention was to ensure the lyrics would explore the turmoil of shifting emotions when the dynamics of a relationship begin to change from Hot to Cold.
What’s your favourite line of the song and why?
The lyrics “Oh I, we’re turning Hot To Cold” are my favourite lyrics of the song because I felt it fully embodies exactly how a relationship can suddenly change from moments of warmth to coldness, and how I try to release the emotion and feeling of sadness and disappointment in my voice.
What are your projects for 2024?
I am looking forward to releasing more original music this year and a mix of ballads and up-tempo tracks. I strive to attract new audiences, and to receive lots of radio play as well as remaining hopeful that music supervisors will discover me and support my music. I am also keen to perform at up-and-coming festivals and events this year, especially for this summer. I am excited to perform to live audiences and find new followers who wish to join and support me on my music journey.
What is a message you would like to give through your music and why?
I hope to share messages through my songs that will uplift others and be healing to those who are currently facing challenges within their own lives. My songwriting tends to reflect ‘life’, love, struggles, fears, and Hopes and Dreams, which I know will relate to many people’s personal experiences.

I really hope you like my new song Hot To Cold and that you enjoy some or all of my music. Like most people in life, I have faced many ups and downs, successes, and challenges. I have felt great sadness, bereavement, loss, heartache, as well as celebrated feelings of love, happiness, and friendship and I strive to reflect these experiences, feelings, and emotions in my music.
