Danish duo FÉ, made up of Frederikke and Victor, is bringing a fresh yet nostalgic take on pop music with their self-titled debut album. Combining elements of synthpop and ’80s-inspired sounds, their music blends colorful expression with modern production. FÉ has crafted a record with a unique sound that fuses energetic arrangements, emotional storytelling, and a love for classic synth-driven music—honoring the past while embracing the present.
Frederikke and Victor’s journey as a duo began in 2021 when a simple co-writing session led to undeniable creative chemistry. Their first song, “GOLD,” set the foundation for what would become their signature style—a mix of bold beats, grand vocal performances, and deeply personal lyrics. While Victor initially joined as a songwriter and producer, their musical bond soon evolved into a full-fledged partnership, with Frederikke as the lead vocalist and frontwoman of FÉ.
Thematically, their self-titled album is a heartfelt collection of songs exploring life’s highs and lows—“from euphoric and blossoming romantic relationships to a celebration of friendship, to heartbreak, to feeling anxious and alone.” Each track serves as a reflection of their personal experiences, wrapped in rich melodies and dynamic synth-driven production. This sound is the result of a creative process where Frederikke and Victor allowed their music to evolve naturally.
Both Frederikke and Victor chatted with InMusic about their new album, its creative process, and how they became a duo. Read FÉ’s full interview below.

How would you describe your music?
Frederikke: “Expressive, colorful, with tight beats, and with a wide range of emotions – from grand gestures of love to intimate and vulnerable moments to spherical universes.”
Victor: “Lots of energy in the music arrangements, productions and vocal performances. Even though our genre is from the ‘past’, it still has a modern touch within the music.”
What inspired you to form a duo and pursue a career in music together?
Frederikke: “When we met, we felt a deep musical connection. We loved the same sounds, beats, grand vocals and guitar solos… so it felt natural to start this journey together.”
Victor: “Frederikke called me up the summer of 2021 through the Danish music community and asked me to co-write a song with her. We met up in my studio, talked for a few hours, and wrote 85% of our opening track ‘GOLD’ which is our first ever written song together as a duo. Personally, from there, I felt I needed to be a full-time member of ‘FÉ’ because of our chemistry together, humanly and musically. I kindly asked Frederikke if ‘FÉ’ could be a duo, but still with the visual focus of Frederikke being the main character and lead vocalist / frontwoman of our duo. That’s how I got the job, haha!”
Can you tell us about your debut self-titled album?
Frederikke: “It’s a personal album about life’s ups and downs as a human in this world. From euphoric and blossoming romantic relationships to a celebration of friendship to heartbreak to feeling anxious and alone. It’s been a long time coming – but now our album is finally here!”
Victor: “The short answer is that this record is a tribute to nostalgia and the musical era around the 80’s, with inspiration from the modern music scene today. This record is supposed to take the listener back to a place where you remember the good days of a time when anything was possible.”
FÉ blends 80s nostalgia with a fresh, modern sound. What inspired you to bring this era back to life in your music?
Frederikke: “We are both born in the 80’s and share the same love of this decade with all its boldness and colorfulness artistically. I would have loved to be young at this time! So our music is simply a product of what we love – from today’s inspirations to those of the past.”
Victor: “I have always been a huge fan of Prince, Mr. Mister, The Police and so on. But when I heard about The Midnight back in 2016, I fell so much in love with the group and got so inspired that if they could make nostalgic 80’s music so well done, then I could also – and since then I have improved my producing skills in regards to creating 80’s music. I also believe there isn’t a proper nostalgic Danish Synthpop act these days.”

What was the creative process like when making this album? Did you have a clear vision from the start, or did it evolve naturally?
Frederikke: “It evolved naturally as we started writing together, finding a shared musical language and vision.”
Victor: “I wrote most of the music, together with Frederikke on the side. Frederikke also wrote synth chords to our songs. I also recorded, produced, played/programmed all instruments and recorded additional vocals. Frederikke sang all the vocals, lead, dubs, and arranged almost all choir vocals as well and wrote almost all of the lyrics, except from ‘Time Traveler’ which I wrote.”
If you were a listener picking a song from “FÉ,” which track would you choose and why?
Frederikke: “That’s difficult! Because to me, all the songs mean a lot and have each their own message to share. I think I would pick ‘Late Bloomer.’ It’s about trusting our own process and pace in life, even when it seems everyone else is further ahead. We’ll get there when we’re ready.”
Victor: “It’s hard to choose because I am proud of the whole album from start to finish, but the song ‘Waiting’ is a very special song for me, because it was a song that took a lot of time and effort to write. It had been through 3-4 re-arrangements, so when I hear the song to this day, it reminds me of how proud I am of our commitment and the development of the song. And beyond that, it is an amazing atmospheric song!”

What’s next for you musically?
Frederikke: “Right now we’re taking a rest after a hectic period and we’re celebrating that the album is finally here. Then let’s see what the future brings.”
Victor: “Exploring and seeing where this album is taking us. The one thing I truly hope is that people will love this record as much as we loved writing and recording it.”
What is a message you would like to give through your music and why?
Frederikke: “To live our lives while we’re here – it’s such a short time! And to take it all, both the highs and the lows. Life is beautiful, hard, strange, sometimes without sense or meaning. But it’s an adventure that we can experience together. With the people we love .”

Is there anything else you’d like people to know?
Frederikke: “Thank you for taking the time to read this! We hope our album will come to mean something to you as well. Enjoy!!”
