A dream. A beautiful and simple dream. This is what propelled Luna, a young indie/pop artist, to return to the UK. Born in the United Kingdom, precisely in Bangor, North Wales, Luna’s family had crossed Europe to settle in Cyprus when she was just a child. “I absolutely love Cyprus, and it is my home,” she fondly recalls. After spending her formative years in the heart of Southeast Europe, Luna found herself drawn back to her roots last year, fueled by a single purpose: “I want to become a singer.” Yet, the journey wasn’t without its challenges. Initially, she grappled with writer’s block, but during that time, she shifted her focus to promoting her music, having already released a couple of songs.
Earlier this year, Luna unveiled her debut EP ‘Shades,’ and just a few weeks ago, she delighted her listeners with her latest single, ‘Outerspace.’

You’re from the UK, moved to Cyprus when you were a child, and now you’re back in the UK. How has the change in environment impacted your creativity and artistic growth since returning to the UK?
At first, it was all excitement as the UK is extremely different from Cyprus, and don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love Cyprus, and it is my home. However, the UK was a much better fit for me, not just for my music but in general. After the initial excitement had passed, I definitely had writer’s block for a small period of time, but I had focused at that time on promoting my music as I had already released a couple of songs at the time. “LUNA – Bonito” was actually written when I was in the middle of moving from Cyprus to the UK, and it was inspired based on that fact. And if I’m completely honest, it was also an “I’m doing good without you” kind of song, as I had gone through a bad breakup, which actually inspired me to write “Bus Stop.”
As an independent artist, what has been the most rewarding aspect of sharing your music with the world? What message or feelings do you hope your listeners take away from your songs?
I’d say the most rewarding aspect so far is the feedback of people relating to my music, healing, and growing. I’d say it’s also the appreciation from people listening to my music, especially strangers who have just found me and don’t know me personally. The best way to compliment me is to compliment me about my music; it’s the way to my heart.
Earlier this year you released your debut EP “Shades”. Could you highlight a particular track that holds a special significance to you and explain why?
To be completely honest, each song has a very different meaning to me, but the one that has a little bit more significance to me would definitely be “Light.” “Light” is about me growing up always wanting to be a singer/songwriter and performing in front of crowds of people, as it was in the song “Ever since I was 4 years old, I dreamt of the day when I’m older, I’d be who I’d want to be, and maybe I’d see you singing this song back to me.”
Now let’s talk about your new single “Outerspace.” What is the meaning behind this song?
My new song “Outerspace” is actually about me and my boyfriend. We are in a long-distance relationship, and he actually has a tattoo of two planets; that’s also the reason there are two hands in the cover photo within the galaxy.
What’s your favorite line of the song and why?
I’d definitely say “Oh shit, was I meant to start?” as I have never added anything like that to my music before, and I fell in love with it when I added it to this song. I’d also say, “It’s nice you take my advice, you’re always just so precise, I’ll put my life in yours so don’t go gambling the price.” I wrote the above to symbolize that all you can do in a relationship is care and trust. Nowadays, most relationships don’t work because either they have no trust because of previous relationships hurting them. It’s a reminder that you can’t control what others do and to let them prove you wrong. And if they prove you right, then they weren’t meant for you.
What is a message you would like to give through your music and why?
That no matter what you are going through, you will always be okay in the end. Most of my songs are related to love, so I’d say my message is love and being hopeful for it.
