Hailing from Antlers, Oklahoma, the sister-led act blends rock, pop, and ethereal emotion into a sound that feels both timeless and uniquely their own. With their new single “Diamonds in the Sky,” they step further into their artistic vision: music that’s moody yet uplifting, personal yet universal.
As collaborators and siblings, Lavendine—made up of Jana and her sister—have been writing and performing together for as long as they can remember. What began as a childhood dream has grown into a fully realized musical identity, shaped by years of collaboration, faith, and resilience. Their upcoming EP, Deep Blue, builds on that identity.
“Diamonds in the Sky” stands as a centerpiece—described by the duo as one of their favorite songs on the project. Drawing from the kind of music that once helped them through their own struggles, the track aims to offer strength, hope, and healing to listeners navigating challenges of their own.
In this exclusive interview with InMusic, Lavendine reflect on their path, sisterhood, new single, and more.
How would you describe your music?
Ethereal, moody, and uplifting.
Could you elaborate on your musical journey and the path that led you to where you are today?
We have been creating music in some form for as long as we can remember. It’s always been our deepest desire and our true focus. Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of collaborating with so many incredible songwriters, musicians, and producers. Looking back, it’s amazing to reflect on the journey and the experiences we’ve had along the way.
As sisters and collaborators, how do you navigate creative differences while preserving your individual artistic voices?
We’ve found a way to blend our melodic ideas and musical direction, creating a truly unique mix of styles. It’s really cool to see how some songs lean more toward Jana’s style of writing, while others reflect mine, with both influences woven together. This blend creates interesting nuances and unexpected twists and turns from verse to chorus. Somehow, we’ve figured out how to complement each other’s musical expressions and creative instincts.
Can you tell us about your new single, “Diamonds in the Sky”?
This is definitely one of our favorite songs on the album because it captures the rock-pop-ethereal sound that resonates deeply within our souls. It reminds us of the songs that moved us as little girls—songs that lifted us up and carried us beyond our struggles. During our teen years, that kind of music meant everything to us, and now, we hope our music can do the same for others.
You worked with an incredible team of musicians and producers. What was it like collaborating with them?
It was surreal to hear and watch others interpret our songs and to witness the sound materialize in real time. What we had longed for was finally within reach, and it was incredible to see and hear what had lived in our hearts now brought to life for others to experience understatement. “Exhilarating” is an Every song has a mind of its own, and you can’t always predict where it wants to go. Staying open-minded is key to creating something truly magical in music. We’ve had songs take unexpected turns—shifting chord progressions, changing tempos, and even rewriting lyrics at the very last moment. Those surprises, though unplanned, often led to the most powerful results.
Were there any unexpected moments during the recording or mixing process that changed the direction of the song?
Yes, many times we revisit, reproduce, or reimagine a song—or even just parts of it. These moments often feel like divine intervention, where something greater steps in and transforms the music. We truly believe it’s when God takes over, guiding the process and creating something beautiful within the song.
“Diamonds in the Sky” serves as a single from your upcoming EP , Deep Blue. What can we expect from this new project?
It’s an ethereal, moody, and melodic album with rock and pop flares. Our music is meant to feed the soul—best experienced late at night, driving down the highway with the volume up and the windows down.
Are there any particular songs on the EP that were especially challenging to create?
Surprisingly, no—this album came together so naturally. It was fun and felt almost effortless.
What is a message you would like to share through your music, and why?
Our message is to never give up in the midst of heartache—because a better day will come. We hope our music gives people the strength to hold on until they make it through their pain and struggle.
