Heeseung is officially entering a new era. Weeks after his confirmed departure from ENHYPEN, the vocalist has unveiled his solo identity, announcing he will re-debut under the stage name EVAN.
The reveal signals a clear artistic reset. Introduced as “a versatile vocalist defined by a trendy, sophisticated tone,” EVAN represents what the singer describes as an alternate dimension of his identity—one rooted in creative autonomy and emotional depth. “Through this persona, he aims to share a sound shaped entirely by his own unique color,” the announcement reads, positioning the project as a fully self-directed chapter.
That shift follows a decisive moment earlier this year. On March 15, BELIFT LAB confirmed to The Korea Herald that Heeseung would not return to ENHYPEN, ending weeks of speculation after his initial exit announcement on March 10. The label cited “a clear artistic direction he wants to pursue,” emphasizing that the decision came after “extensive and in-depth discussions” about the group’s long-term trajectory.
Fan response was immediate and unprecedented in scale. Within 24 hours of the news breaking, a Change.org petition urging the agency to allow Heeseung to balance solo work with group activities surpassed one million signatures. Supporters pointed to a common K-pop model where artists maintain dual careers, arguing that his departure created an unnecessary divide between individual and group ambitions.
Context around ENHYPEN’s history underscores the significance of the move. Formed through the 2020 survival series I-Land, the group debuted in November of that year and maintained its original seven-member lineup for over five years. Heeseung’s exit marks the first official lineup change, with the act now continuing as six members: Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon, and Ni-ki.
Creative independence has long been part of Heeseung’s profile. Throughout his time in ENHYPEN, he contributed to songwriting and production, gradually shaping a reputation beyond performance alone.
Details surrounding his debut release remain under wraps.
